    2005 250hp HPDI

Running yesterday turning 5600-5700 RPM 73MPH WOT. I lose a cylinder and it drops to 4200 RPM, I shut it down and idle for about 100 yards to get out of the wind. Let it sit for an hour or so and fire it back up, seems fine not running rough, I'm fishing a tournament so I just move from pocket to pocket. Come weigh in time I have to make a 5 minute run to the launch, everything is fine, but can only turn 5200-5400 RPM's WOT. I am going to start with the plugs, hopefully it's nothing major. Any ideas?

James you should bring it in for computer check,That does not sound like a bad plug maybe a fuel filter clogged, but i would have someone check it out first.

there are no buzzers going off, or no lights comming on, chances are the computer isn't going to have the answer.
I am pulling the VST tank today..I have checked both manual fuel pumps, changed lower unit oil (it was good) all fuel taken out was put into a jar and inspected for particles (everything was good)
looked at the throtle position sensor, unplugged it while on the hose and the engine ran good at idle, changed with another TPS did the same thing, looked at the gear sensor, unplugged it idled good, took it out and couldn't get on plane ( I guess you can't bypass it on the engine)

James, not to scare you but thats how mine did before it came apart.(exactly ) I had 53 hrs on the motor when it happened. There is a fuel restriction code thats why i said you might want to have it checked out.Mine started out slowly losing power then BOOM. I'm not saying for sure this is your problem and i hope i'm wrong, but the reason i responded to your post was that i noticed how simular it was to mine. Let us know what you find.

I guess it was the fuel strainer causing a restriction. I removed and cleaned the VST tank and screen replaced the fuel strainer and now she runs like a scalded dog
