water pressure gauge, tubing restrictor??

Hey guys, while lifting off my powerhead, I accidentally knocked the water pressure tube off the fitting, broke it at the fitting above the head.
I grabbed a new brass ferrul and then noticed there is a sleeve inserted into the tube under the ferrul.

Is that sleeve a restrictor, or there to prevent crushing of the tube when the ferrul/nut is tightened down?

Why do I ask? It's a pain in the A$$ to get that little brass tube into the hose when the ferrul is slid on, and I can't get the ferrul on if the brass tube is inserted!! Either way, nearly impossible!!

I dont think it's a restrictor.... I think it is just so you can tighten the hose between two brass parts. Saw the pics of your mota in pieces... Bill wants to buy it back in a year or two..
