    Another water seperator/fuel filter question

I have read alot of posts about these things, but none of them have any info about the flow rate of the filter. Does the 250 VMAX series2 need a large flow rate? Racor makes filters with flows of 15gph all the way up to 90gph. When I add one of these I want to make sure I don't starve the engine. Thanks....

I run the 10 Micron Yamaha that is 90gph. I would run the 90 in either the Yamaha or Racor. I would think if you bought a Series 2 rigged from a MFG or dealer it will have it installed per Yamaha recommendation/requirement.

The only way I could see a Series 2 not having one purchased new would be a re-power on an existing boat and even then I would think an authorized Yamaha dealer would install one.

I'm thinking about a new boat with the 250 VMAX, and was just curious what filter I would install if it didn't come with one. Thanks for the replies!!

As noted above it will come with one. Any new boat rigged with an HPDI is required by Yamaha to have one. If it is rigged by the MFG it will certainly have one. If the dealer is rigging it I would confirm they are putting it on as well. If not already installed either the Racor or Yamaha. Both are the same except the Racor has a clear bottom where you can get a visual on any water it picks up.

Yamaha recommends the 10 micron 90 GPH filter for that motor. Either Yamaha or Racor will do fine as long as it meets the specs.

They also changed their recommendations on changing out the filters from 100 hours to 50 hours. They also recommend first changing the filter every 25 hours until you can positively say you don't have any water or trash problems.

Perhaps you both need to go back to kindergarten and learn how to read. Your last time there a year ago didn't seem to help any.

He said he runs one. He also said he would run the 90 in either a Yamaha or Racor filter. He also says a new boat/motor should have one installed to Yamaha's recommendations. No where does he discuss the interval for changing and what Yamaha recommends.

In any case, perhaps I was just summing it up for the newbies in these forums. No need to insert smart a** comments. This subject has been covered many many times and if people searched they would find tons of info about these filters on here. You don't see anyone trashing the person asking the questions because of that. We just continue to try and answer their questions as best we can.

I would think you guys could spend your time more wisely than making wise cracks in a forum where people are just trying to help. If you can't productively contribute then how about just staying out. In other words, if you have nothing nice to say then say nothing!!!
