New 2 Pc. Prop Thrust Washer

I finally got the new two piece "spacer" that's supposed to eliminate failure. The parts came without any description. Just wondering if I should grease the parts before installing, and what torque should be applied on the prop nut. The Yamaha tech bulletin number is 2008-020, there may be info in it, (perhaps someone could email me a copy). Thanks in advance.

Local dealers can order them, and boats.net & Ed' superstore can get them also, price is 100 and up! They can refer to the 2008-020 bulletin for part numbers.

I was givin the 2 piece thrush washer last year by a yamaha rep when the prop kept eating into my lower unit, I no longer use it didn't really care for it, I am using a new one peice thrush washer now and it does good. The 2 peice kept coming apart when I would take the prop on and off.

I'm guessing for the same reason the rep gave you one. I only say this because I was thinking of getting one too before I launch this spring. So you're using a new one-piece one and you're not hitting the l/u now? Do you have a p/n for that one, or is it the original one?

Don't put any grease on either piece and torque the prop to 44 ft lbs.
The grease will keep the washer from mating with the lower unit surface properly. It will come loose again.

No grease anywhere, and 44 ft. lbs. torque on the prop- got it. Mat, thanks for the advice, that will do it.

Don't have any pics right now, maybe later, or someone else may have gone through this already.

Re: New 2 Pc. Prop Thrust Washer (eal4500)

Yes my prop was eating into my lower unit thats y they gave me the 2 peice, but I had problems with it coming apart, I actually sold a prop and didn't realize the thrush washer had come apart and was stuck into the prop and he had to take it to an machine shop and have them get it out and he sent it back to me. I did not use any grease either, maybe I should have I dunno. I no longer use it, I am using a new one peice and working good. I can get you the part number off the one I am using now if you want. Mine is on a 250 HPDI
