    Problems with 06 200 hpdi

I have a 2006 3.3 200 hpdi. It blew up with 29 hrs on it with 16 hrs at idle speed. It showed no over revs or overheats on the computer. Heard there was a recall on certain serial numbers and wondered if anyone might have info. Reeves service manager said warranty would not cover everything that about 500 bucks was coming out of my pocket for what obviously was a factory defect. Bought motor new about 8 months ago. Any info?

What do you mean when you say it blew up?

Did the dealer determine the cause of failure? Yamaha will cover most failures - the exception being something related to your fuel system.....i.e. bad fuel, clogged filter, clogged injector, etc. Or improper use or improper set up - something like that.
It all depends on what the dealer found and what they relayed to Yamaha. If they can pinpoint the exact cause of failure to a factory defect, then I don't see how Yamaha could refuse.
Hope it works out for you.

What I was told was that it was nothing I did or could have prevented. Matter of fact they were surprised I haven't ran it harder. They said they don't see many with that much idle time.

Had a similiar experience with my 06, 3.3, 200 HPDI. Engine blew because of the oil pump. Never ran it hard or abused it. The worse condition was low to mid range RPM's- not enough oil. It is a wide spread problem (many posts on this forum), and Yamaha should work with you on it. Surprised your dealer is not aware of this issue as there is a TSB on it.

Did it not come with warranty being that you bought it New 8 mo's ago?? It should have. Call Yamaha customer service, they should take care of it . I have a 2006 250 hpdi that blew with 48 hrs and again at 78 hrs due to the oil pump issues. They took care of everything.

Re: Problems with 06 200 hpdi (phillic)

All they said was that warranty would not cover everything. They told me this after I asked about a friend of mine that has a 06 225 hpdi that came apart last week and was covered in full at the same dealership.
