    I-Command Instruments

If you are interested in information about Evinrude's I-Command instrumentation for your V4 or V6 E-TEC outboard, I have written two articles about them which will give you a lot of information.

    I-Command™ Digital Instrumentation from BRP
    http://continuouswave.com/ubb/....html
A general description of the system is given, and photographs of a very recent installation are shown.

NMEA-2000: Sample Rigging Prices for E-TEC
    http://continuouswave.com/ubb/....html
A price for a single engine, single instrument installation is worked up using the factory work sheet and MSRP pricing.

    Re: I-Command Instruments (jimh)

In the first link, the tachometer is supposed to be able to indicate "fuel flow rate" & "rate of fuel consumption". Can anybody tell me what the difference is?? To me they both sound like they should have "gallons per hour" as the units. Is "rate of fuel consumption" really "miles per gallon"??
    Thanks!

You'll have to ask the guy who wrote the installation manual. It's a direct quote from the chart shown on page 3. You can download the manual yourself. A link is given later in the article.

You can't get a computation of miles-per-gallon until you add a speedometer display and speedometer sensor.

According to the user guide, you are correct. Rate of consumption is in mpg, as long as the system is tied in with a gps. Fuel flow is in gph. The gauges can also be changed to display metric and nautical units. Fuel flow can be displayed on either the speedo or tach.

another way to consider what is displayed in the Tach and in the speedo is to think Engine vs Vessal displays.
The tach display all engine information. The speedo displays vessal information - speed, combined (or single engine burn) burn rate of multiple engines, MPG, boat fuel tank level, trip fuel, remaining fuel.

    Go to this web site:

You'll probably find what you need there.
