Does this thing work? I tried one lasst weekend with a fluke on and it didn't seem like it was swimming right. Couldn't tell if the blade was swimming or not. Has anyone used a paddle tail with them?

I have used both the fluke and swimming fluke. Both work really well. Both fluke sizes are the Jr size. It has to be rigged absolutely straight.
I had it rigged straight, but seemed to just come in with no action. Seemed to just slide through the water. does that sound right?
from what I have used them, you don't want to just cast and reel. the paddle tail baits need to be reeled a bit faster at times to get the tail thumping. Sometimes that depends on the brand you are using. I usualy incorporate some jerks and twithes as I reel in.

The blade is small enough where you won't feel it spinning, but it is. I've had success with them around schooling fish, but not much else.
I like them with a skinny dipper. Cut the dipper right behind the head and make sure to center the bait so that the plastic sticks out equally on both sides. This will make the bait wobble and roll.
SHUT UP AND FISH!!!
Awsome baits. Catch alot of schooling fish with them and have even caught fish throwing it were i would a spinnerbait. I mostly use the swimming flukes on them now. But it is very critical you rig it straight that is a very narrow head and if it's not straight it will roll to one side.
I had the same problem with the blades not turning. I like to fish them deep and slow roll them. A little trick is to replace the blade with a larger willow leaf blade. It gets deeper and the blade will continue to turn no matter how slow you reel it.
tried it for the first time last week. used a fluke. blades didn't spin. will try the bigger blade
