    Shoot through hull speed

At what speed should you expect to lose bottom signal on a shoot through hull transducer? Better yet, what would be acceptable ?

I maintain readings up to at least 60 mph and sometimes a bit faster. Above 65 I tend to lose depth.

Really, wow! I lose depth at 45 and image isn't good above 40. Trust me I've put in a bunch, there is no where else to put it in my bilge.

    What brand is your boat?
That.boat may have a shoot through transducer. Call the company and inquire.

What many seem to forget is that it is just as important to properly test location for the shoot-though, as it is to test and adjust a transom-mount. This takes time, and is a two person job in any fast boat.

All it takes is one airbuble in the resin in your hull where the shoot-through is mounted, and it will not work as intended. Or one imperfection in the outer hull in front of the shoot-though that causes turbulence. When a factory installs that shoot-through, they are typically not testing properly before mounting, and the result is pretty much "hit or miss".

My new boat reads to top speed 75, my last boat I tried several different locations and 45 or so was it. I guess hull has a lot to do with it, or I never hit the right spot. lol
