    running wot

I was reading on the general bassboat forum and some made a topic about running wot.. Well after reading what everyone wrote they say if its a 2 stroke to run the hell out of it and if you don't run it wot you are doing more harm then if it was pinned.. Well i do beat on my motor some when its me or a buddy of mine. but when i take the wife which is often i keep it mid range somewhere between 3000 and 4000 rpm because she is scared of water and doesn't like to go fast.. I am doing more harm then good running it like this???just curious

I ran my last Yamaha 130 for 16 years. It probably lived most of its days with me mid to upper range. I did run it wide open a few times each time out, but not wot all the time. It had factory compression when I sold it. Run Ring Free and keep fresh fuel in it and you will be fine even if you can not run woy every time out.

Yes, they are basically the same motor. V4 power heads and lower units are the same. The 130 has different reed valves and carbs. The 115 is just a tuned down 130. They are great motors.

Never had any problems with it. If I recall I think it was 120 and all were within a pound or two of each cylinder. I love my HPDI but miss the simplistic design of a carb motor. That 130 severed me very well! I hope to get the same life out of this one. Time will tell.
