I just transferred my yamahas motor warranty last week, the first dealer I called said that the warranty could not be transferred because I didnt buy it at a dealership, so I called yamaha directly they said it was some simple paper work that any yamaha dealer could fill out and the warranty would be transferred
,so I called another dealer, they wanted $250.00 to transfer the warranty, they said yamaha wanted full diagnostics ran on the motor to see how it had been used and the paper work filing fee
, when I told the guy from service I had already talked with yamaha and that they did not need diagnostics ran,all the guy could say was "thats just what my manager told me"
what a looser. well I guess it was a ranger/lund dealer. so then I called the original dealer the boat came from they asked for the motors vin # ,my name and copy of the title or bill of sale via fax. they said it should be trasnsferred in a few days I recieved the warranty card last friday with my name on it and best of all no charge. sorry for the long story I just dont like seeing people get f---ed by dealerships. if ever in doubt call yamaha directly they always help.
thanks for the info. i posted this because i never see any post regarding this subject of warranty transfer on used motors with warranty remaining. this is one reason i bought the boat.
