    I love my Stratos 201 Pro XL (no name) boat and think some one that don't even own a boat might just be a little jealous. Tell him to let you fish out of his when he gets it but it's OK!

    Maybe you should tell him they are owned by the same company and roll down the line together, I wouldn't trade my stratos for two rangers.

    This is funny, that coming from a guy who doesn't own a boat. I would put my Stratos head to head with any ranger of equal size.

    I like Stratos, I was very close to buying a 294, but that statement is just silly.

    I think he is saying the op's statement was silly, not silly by almost buying a 294.

    I love my Stratos. I looked at Ranger, Skeeter and BassCat, all are great boats. I really like the tackle storage that the Stratos has, I have not been disappointed in my decision.

    Hell, I dunno lol. I really didn't pay attention to him quoting you. I have fished out of several different boats, and I would rank Stratos right up there with any of them. I don't hate Rangers by any means, but they wouldn't be my first choice if I were in the market for another boat.

    I took 2 years in deciding on what to buy. I have fished in all the makes and models out there over the last several years. I have fished out of lots of Ranger boats. In the end, I decided on a 294xl and have NO regrets. It is a well built, designed boat. More bang for the buck for me back when I purchased mine new compared to a Ranger. These boats run MEAN when setup correctly and fish MEAN too.

    I looked at a 2013 45th Ann. Ranger boat this week, $72,000, are you kidding me. No way I would pay that for a name.

    Me and my dad have had a TON of boats; 5-6 Rangers, 5 Bass Cat, 4 Tritons, 2 Skeeter, 3 Stratos 201s, a ProCraft and probable something I am forgetting..... Lets be real about this;
    Boats are different, but how you fish out of it makes a difference (You fish big or small water, shallow or deep and you throw on 8' rods or 6' ?!) Boats get a bad rap for driver error when talking about ride and performance. My 201 w/ a 225 can run w/ a buddys Phoenix 721 w/ a 250 SHO.... Thats not normal but just [proof to my point.
    Now having been in all these, driving all of these and having access to get any brand, I chose Stratos because they do ride nice, fit and finish is good, and tons of USABLE storage. Earl Bentz knew what he was doing day one til he sold the company and what he does is always quality. (Javelin, Hydra Sport, triton). Stratos are like Dodge trucks, A lot for the money...and perform WAY above normal expectaton and normal need. (And yes, I have a Dodge truck too).
    Sounds to me like the guy was brand concious and is one of "those" that has more opinions that experience/knowledge. These guys are neck deep in debt, look like pros, but never weigh in enough to be a factor. Let thier mouths run...everyone will realize they are just manuer spreaders soon enough.

    Personally I don't think the 285 would be any comparison with the Z118 or the 518 in any aspect....I rode in both.
    If we start talking about cost factor then yes a 285 is a great boat, but head to head it just doesn't compare.

    Well that may be true, but for what I do with a boat, my Stratos is just as good as a Ranger. You didn't have to call my statement silly, just say " I disagree " would have worked well. Buty its all good. I am glad we got that worked out.

    My bad! I agree that we both love our boats and that's all that matters!
