    Fuel Problems?

I have a 99 OX66 225 VMAX that i am having some issues with. I started noticing problems when the motor would die after putting in gear. The next trip out when i launched the boat and tried to start the engine it would start but i would have to give it gas to stay running. So i figured i would try and run it to see what the boat was doing, when i try to get out of the hole the motor acted like it was real sluggish. It would run fine at 3000-4000 rpms but when i would get to around 5000 the engine started cutting out. I can put the boat in the drive way and it was idles on a water hose but it still idles ruff, i can put in gear and it wont die. I have had people tell me it is my spark plugs, bad gas, fuel pumps, injectors, fuel filter, and even O2 sensor. In the morning i will drain my tanks run some seafoam through it and change the plugs and fuel filter. Im sure it will be good for the motor anyways. I was just curious if anyone has experienced these same problems and could point me in the right direction.

Welcome Roeville, glad you stopped by.
I'm no expert but if you didn't put any additive in your fuel last fall before parking it I'd say it's a fuel related issue. I'm sure someone will be by soon who can point you in the right direction.

I run some sea foam through it, changed the plugs but wasn't able to change the filter i guess i need to order one of those. It is still cutting out real bad. Im pretty sure it is something to do with the gas. The boat wasn't registered since 04 but i test drove it and it was fine.

Could have gotten trash from gas tank into filter after running it and moving the gas around in the tank. See what happens after you change the filter. May want to try a shock treatment of RingFree also. That will clean the carbon buildup.

If boat was sitting since 04 I would drop the vst and clean the filter on high pressure pump and clean the o2 sensor. Install new plugs and see what happens. Also, check shift linkage and ensure the ball is in the center of shift rail in neutral. You can pivot the shift rail with your finger while running on the hose and feel 2 cylinders cutting out. Mine was off center and ran like crap while idling in gear and on low rpm.
