    Another filter ?????

On the Yamaha filter instructions it says "Do not mount the filter below the top of the fuel tank if an antisiphon is not used." The top of the filter will be a couple of inches above the tank, but not the whole filter. Does that matter, will i have problems of some sort? Thanks for the help. It's a '05 VMAX 150 carb. There is not much room and it were to be above the tank it would be out of the back area.

    Re: Another filter ????? (JUST-IN-TIME)

Hell, i don't know what i have. It's a 36 gallon plastic tank with the fuel sender and the tube for the fuel line. One the line i have a bulb. In other words, when it's not running all the fuel could return to the tank and the filter lose some of it therefore it looses it's prime?

    Re: Another filter ????? (JUST-IN-TIME)

That' a problem i will have. I will not be able to mount it above. Maybe the filter fitting will be about 2" above the top of the tank but that's about it.

I don't know for sure but I think a liquid thread sealant would be best. I wouldn't use Teflon tape. A small piece might work itself loose and stop up a jet and that could be bad news.

Re: Another filter ????? (fishin couillon)

Take the fuel filler cap off to relieve pressure in the tank. If you can blow back into the tank via the fuel line and you hear bubbles in the fuel tank you don't have an anti-siphon valve installed. If you can't blow into the tank through the fuel line it's the anti-siphon valve stopping you. You can pick one up at West Marine if you want one, they just screw into the fitting on the fuel tank and the fuel hose attaches as usual. The Coast Guard requires an anti-siphon device on built in marine fuel tanks, so you'll likely find one there. You should use the yellow teflon tape for gas/oil fittings. You can find it at Lowes. Get the yellow tape not the white tape. White tape is for water fittings.

    Re: Another filter ????? (Hamfisted)

Thanks Mike, that clears some things up. On the anti-siphon, if i don't have one, is that something needed in using these filters or it doesn't make a difference.
