    OX-66 Ran aground

I have a 26' CC with twin 225 OX-66s. Last weekend, on the way back to the marina, I got off the channel and ran aground, seeing how close we were to the channel, I had passengers move to one side of the boat and reved up the motors after tilting them up a bit. We got back on to the channel, but the port motor stopped peeing and was spitting out water from the exhaust port. I flushed the motors and quite a bit of sand came out of the port motor and it good stream was coming out of the pee hole.

I am wondering whether I have done some kind of permanent damage to the impeller or the issue will go away on its own after running the motors a while. Any thoughts?

    Re: OX-66 Ran aground (suncoug)

Check the post stickied to the top of the yamaha forum here, about cleaning the poppit valve. That's where I'd start, and go from there, replacing the impellar if need be.

Flush it real good with the hose and maybe change the poppit valves.I have had to stick a safety pin size wire in the peehole while its running to get it unclogged also.

Thanks for your help on this. I have replaced the poppet valve recently and I will open it up and see if it is gunked up.
