    Yam ProV150 question

Howdy ya'll i have a 95 yamaha proV 150 2stoke 6cyl. its a precision blend i think direct injection model. I gapped and put new plugs in it the other day and the old plugs were black and the threads were oily. I did this because its new for one but smells like its running rich as hell. so i wanted to start to get an idea of what it is. Wanted to get ya'lls opinion. personally im thinkin it might be loading up on oil somehow. is this possible??? Is bypassing the oil injection so i can just premix a pain???? thankyou

Check your oil pump linkage for adjustment. You should be running ringfree or seafoam in every gallon of gas. Yamahas oil inj is a great design, Dont mess with it and pre mix.

We just took the oil inj. off my dad's 94 pro v 150 last year. I can twist the props to the limiter at 6200 rpm's. We decided that since the motor was that old (bought it new in 94) that it was best to make sure it would be getting oil at all times instead of worrying about the oil injec. going out and blowing the motor. My 225 pro max is the same way. Yes it can be a pain mixing but it's worth the peace of mind knowing it's getting the oil regaurdless.

    My $.02.

    Re: Yam ProV150 question (Bulleteer)

Yamaha Oil Injection fails? News to me. You are more likely to forget to put oil into your premix than the injection system is to die. You might say you won't forget. But it won't break either..

More likely you have blown fuel pump diapragms which are allowing fuel into the crank case. $35 each, only two on that motor. Have you replaced them in the last 5 years? If not, now is time.

You can search for how to test for a blown fuel pump if you like. Basically take off two bolts which hold them to the powerhead, pump up fuel bulb and look for leaks.
