Need help with 90hp yamaha

I am a newbie to boating. I recently bought a boat with a 90hp yamaha. The motor is an 1987 and says precision blend. Has three carbs.

The problem: Ran the boat today and when i went to put the throttle down the boat had no power. It would not plain out. Nothing. Also when i would put the motor in neutral it would shut off. However it will stay on in neutral only at higher rpm's.

I just replaced the fuel pump. I also noticed that the bottom carb is leaking fuel out of the front. The other two are not. I was told this could be a sticking float. Wondering would this cause the motor to have no power?

Any advice as to what is wrong and maybe a method of fixing would be much appreciated.

Honestly, take it to a mechanic and let them rebuild the carbs, adjust them, and check all of the fuel lines, pumps, and filters.

I agree there are times when money is well spent at a mechanic, long ago I made the mistake of trying to fix my motor myself, when it was really messed up and all I accomplished is getting stuck on the water and ruining nearly a whole season of fishing.


Actually, I never did actually fix it, bought a new boat, left the old one at the dealership, neglected to ever pick it up, no idea as to what ever happened to it
