Connecting Yamaha Command Link to Lowrance

My boats was ordered with the Yamaha Command link option. It also has the Lowrance network system. I figured everything would be connected at the factory but it was not. The only thing that works with the Yamaha Command link so far is the fuel flow meter, and it isn't accurate at that (over 20% off).

I would like to get the GPS speedometer working on the Yamaha gauge and/or the fuel flow working on the Lowrance unit. Anyone know how to network the two together? Or what and where to get the appropriate sensors to make use of the full function of the Yamaha Command link? The boat was a 2007 Skeeter 20i, the lowrance units were the LMS 520c's. Thanks.

My boat has the Command Link also. Everything was connected to the NMEA backbone except the Speedo to GPS. I took it back to my Dealer and asked them to hook up the speedo to read from my LMS-332c (not normally done by the factory). There is a wire that has to be connected between the Speedo and GPS, but unfortunately, I don't know which one. I strongly recommend returning it to the Dealer and asking them hook it up and have them check the fuel reading issue. My fuel reading options are dead on.

If you ordered it and it isn't working take it back!

But I had C&O install the cable from the yammie that connects to the NMEA. It took their tech about 15 minutes or so, seemed pretty easy. Once the LEI cable was connected to the motor and NMEA the network automatically recognized it. It's pretty cool system, although the motor trim never works correctly and this is a frequent problem with alot of people's systems.

    Don,

Did you use any calibration adjustments for the fuel meter? I noticed that it can be calibrated -7% to +7%, (unfortunately not enough fo my discrepancy) which is yours set to?

Anyone know what wire is needed to hook up speedo to GPS and install procedure? It may be just as easy for me to do it myself if I knew how. I am trying to get the Skeeter 20i connected to the Lowrance 520c's.

    Thanks.

No John, I'm basing it on the amount of fuel the system indicates I've used measured by the amount I have to put back in it. So far, if the gauge tells me I've used say 13 gals, it takes 13 +- .1 to fill it back up. Given this, I'm "assuming" my MPG/fuel flow values are pretty close as well. I use the data quite a bit when running (not during a T though) to optimize fuel usage, especially given the price of gas these days. Guess I'm not sure how to check what the cal is set at, but if you'll tell me how to check, I'll share the info.

Can anyone elaborate on this Yamaha NMEA trim/tilt not working? I must be one of the folks that has one that doesn't work and I would like to make it read...If possible. All the other stuff reads just fine. I DO NOT have the Command Link system. I am reading everything via my Lowrance LMS 332C

John, If you have not asked on the GPS board, go there...Quachita will be able to help you...I think someone even had pictures a while back of the settings for the back of the guage and wiring info...
