    BKR6EKU VS. BKR7EKU

Just bought new plugs, of the 6 EKU variety. These are the plugs i pulled out of the engine. 2004 2.6L HPDI. I looked in the manual for the correct gap, and it lists the 7 EKU. So now I'm wondering if I bought the wrong plugs?? I called my dealer today wHo said to run the plugs that came with it and ignore the manual, but to make sure, read a red and white label inside the lower "pan" of the engine. Guess what, this says 7 EKU! This motor runs fine with the "6's" that are currently in there. Did I just waste my money on these?? What is the difference?

    What do you guys run??

    THANK YOU!

The 6's are a hotter heat range. They will run longer without fouling than the 7's.

I believe Yamaha had some fouling issues with the plugs that are listed in the manual and since went up one heat range for part of the fix. NGK plugs get hotter when going down/lower in numbers.

    Hi kb,

I think my prop is too small. I have a 23 T1, and am running ~ 5800 RPM at only 63-64 MPH GPS. Funny thing is that speed doesn't change no matter if I am by myself, or with 3 big guys. I just bought a 5 blade prop in 23" also to use for Lake Erie. I am going to try and experiment with some other props this spring. I'll try and remember to let you know how it goes.

Oh yea, thank you and others for your input on the plugs.
