I told you how to test the tach for accuracy.... Put on a 23P prop and hit the limiter at 6150... See where your tach reads and you'll know if your off.... Or you can just get out your wallet and buy some brand new digitals.

maybe adumb question can the digital gages
be off?

possible but the originals are analog and haven't been working correctly. It may be a bad gauge, not sure but i'm thinking of replacing them with digital gauges.
I have had the Yamaha digital gauges in the last few boats totaling over ten years and have been extremely accurate. Yes, Even the speedo's have been within 1 mph to my gps's. I'm not saying that they are all perfect, But the ones I owned were flawless.
