water pressure question

hi folks,

i'm looking into getting myself a water pressure guage for my motor. so, i have two questions:

1. my motor is a 2001 90hp outboard. any idea what water pressure this should be reading, or what i requires? the manuals aren't too helpful sometimes, it says nothing about water pressure.

2. are the fittings for a water pressure guage universal for all outboards, or are the fitting that attach to the motor manufacturer specific? bps sells guage packages that come with guage, tubing and fittings, but i'm not sure if the fittings that come with it are going to fit my motor.


also, while we're on the topic, how difficult is it to install the fittings to the motor?

should be simple you may have to
buy the fitting for the head from
yamahah or go to a good hardware
store hardest part is running tubing
back under the dash. usually the gage
comes with some fittings.

You will need Yamaha part # 61886P - Metric to 1/8 NPT adapter for the water pressure gauge. It screws into the top of the head, water jacket, Drivers side.

0 to 5 psi at idle, 15 to 20 psi WOT.
