Jumping the Mercury ship and landing in Yami land!

I have been in a Mercury powered boat for 15 years now, but my " new to me" boat is going to have a Yamaha HPDI 250...What do I need to know for maintanance?.. I have been is carbed or EFI motors with almost no maintanence needed, but keeping fuel/oil in them and changing a fuel filter and the lower unit lube ...Thanks for any replies...

Run ringfree or seafoam in you gas after you break it in.... Prevent problems before they start.

Don't forget to have a 10 micron fuel filter install between tank and bub. It will save you money in the long run. As Mike said run Ring Free or Sea Foam, we run Sea Foam.

As you can see from my siggy I just did a swap as well (from Yamaha EFI). Enjoy your new motor, after it finishes break-in the oil usage will be about normal to what you're used to, the fuel usage will allow you to end the day a Outback instead of McDonalds. I can't get over how fuel efficient the HPDI is. As mentioned above be sure to get the fuel filter installed between the tank and the motor.....Enjoy.

    Peace,

As posted from Chris Brewton earlier, one problem you'll have is, "it will start on the first turn of the key." congrat

It will cost you a whole lot more when you have to replace the high pressure filter and the other one under the cowl. Plus what ever else it stops up. Your dealer should have a Yamaha 10 micron filter in stock to put at your tank. around $40 To $60 for the filter.

If you run yamalube you shouldn't need the ring free.
