Re: any news ? (lucky HO)

    I'm not laughing.....

I want that 225 HO to be every bit of a terror as its predacessor. I'll let you guys field test the production motors for a year and then I hope to have enough information not only on the motor, but also know how it will push my heavy boat around.. Right now its between the ETEC 225HO and the Merc 225 XS. Yamaha will have to step up to the plate to keep me as a customer......I can't stand being passed on the lake.....right now I feel that I'd have to have atleast a 250 HPDI to keep up with the "high output" 225's out there....

    Anxiously awaiting your reports...

Don, My honest opinion,,, The etec will by far be THE motor for the heavy hulls. That's why Merc want's a test on the light hulls. My 225 DI has so much more torque than my old 225 carb and I'm told the same difference in the DI to ETec!!!!! Dat will carry some serious fishin' gear and big partners!!! JMHO

might as well laugh about it ,cant do anything else but wait! i traded in a boat with a 150 efi yam and never had a problem with this engine. new boat was ordered with 200 hpdi(without doing any research, dealer convinced me to get this engine)after watching yam forum for 2 weeks i decided this may not be a good choice.after more research there was only one choice, etech. so order was changed and now im on the waiting list. good thing i have a backup boat the fishing is starting to turn on here! etech

Don, Not gettin' on any bodys case, but at Gville I saw a 206? I think with a 250 Yammie take off just past the little bridge and he was not pulling away from Fred's 200 Johnny That 89 201 of Fred's is a quick hull and that is the sweetest running carb motor I've ever heard run!

Hi everyone My name is Marcia aka "Reel Lady" on http://www.ohiogamefishing.comThis is my first post here on BBC. By the way.. What a fantastic site this is!
Here is my question. We ordered our Ranger 621 in the end of January at the local boat show. The motor that we chose was a E-Tec 225 DFI (not the HO)
I was informed by the dealer yesterday that there were problems with the lower gear case units, and that they had to be modified and then put through the testing. He claims that Bombardier told him that they will begin shipping these motors out the end of next week, although they also stated that they thought that they would have been shipping them out the end of this week.. but.. that didnt look likely....
Ok.. so, here is my question. Is this problem related to both the 225 DFI AND the 225 HO?
I'm so sad right now! We were really hoping to have our new boat to take on a fishing trip to Santee Cooper in a couple of weeks.
Well, thanks in advance for any info you can share regarding the E-Tec situation.
    Marcia

Re: any news ? (Reel Lady)

The problem is not due to the design of the gearcase, but with a former parts supplier who went out of business. When that happened Bombardier had to find and set up a different supplier and then make sure the stock was quality controlled to their specs. All this takes time and I understand that HO's are going out the door as of this week.

Let's hope they catch up their backorders very quickly.

There are some out there, I have seen 2 on Z20 Rangers, did not noticed which lower unit they had but they were good looking motors, does this motor on a Ranger really need the bullet nose lu anyway?
