tach setting for an 04' evinrude 150HO

I have not looked at the back of my tach yet but someone told me that there is an adjustment on the back and it depends on what type of motor you have as to what it should be set on. The reason I'm asking is that when I had my motor serviced the computer said that highest rpm was 5600 and I have seen my tack at around 5800. Is there any truth to this? I will look at the back of my tach today.

You tach should be set to the #6 position

yep, my tach was set on setting 5. I have changed it to 6. Does this mean that when my tach was on setting 5 and it was saying 5500 rpms it was really 5300? Or was it the other way around?
