92 Yamaha 150 pro V any ideas to improve performance ?

I have a 92 basscat pantera 11 with a 92 150 hp yamaha pro v. Any suggestions to increase stock performance ? I am a ASE L1 certified autmotive mechanic ,so I will not be afraid to tear the motor apart. I just need some expert advice here to give me some ideas and parts availabilty. All help is greatly appreciated !!

Oh yes... You are the perfect candidate for the HydroTec phase 1 or 2 or 3 kit. Click and read the link I posted. http://www.yamaha-rebuild.com/phasekits.htm

I would call them and ask for John or Nathan.... They know what gains are achieveable. I want the phase2 kit on mine bad... The money is not right at this time.

Talk to the guys at HydroTec, they can tell you for sure. I put a phase III kit in mine, went from turning a 25 Tro4 at 5500 to turning a 26 chopper at 6100 and still don't have the jetting quite right. I fully expect to turn it 6300-6400 when its all done. Easy to install too!

Haven't gps'd it yet, since we do most of our experimenting based on rpm and not speed....

I will give you my results of my mods which is basically the same as a Phase III kit. I was turning a 23M at 5500, 56mph before. Now I turn a 27M worked to a 28 to 5800 at 69 mph with an average load. Boat is a 20 ft Bee so the speeds are a little slower. My motor is also an 87 ProV 150. I would guess you could pick up around 10 mph, at least, with a PhaseIII kit.

    Chuck,
I just put the HydroTec carbs in my 1990 150 ProV and gained about 8-mph gps speed. I have the 8200 heads, the 5252 turner and the solid mounts that I recently bought from (xb02vmax) that I am not going to use if you are interested in them. I bought them from him used but never put them on. I got what I was looking for out of the carbs. I also have the inner and outer gaskets for the heads that I bought new that I am not going to use.

With the age of the motor do you think it can handle these mods without damage ? Do you think that the carbs alone can give you that much increase in performance ?

Calling HydroTec is your best answers to all these questions.... The motor can handle it fine.... As long as she's not wore out and has lost alot of compression. Call HT and see....
