50hp stalls after a few minutes of slow idling

Feel like I have been battling this motor for years. For a few seasons I had a constant problem of motor running fine but after fishing for awhile it was always hard to start like it would lose prime. Mechanic finally looked at it and cleaned out carbs and it ran a little better. That was last summer and now seems to be happening again.

Motor will start up and run wide open just fine, but if you slowly idle it will have problems. By slow idle I mean actually in gear going fwd. Normally it will do this for anywhere from 1-3 minutes and then bog down and die. When this happens it's very very hard to restart and you have to wait about 10min before trying again.

Is it possible I have trash in motor again and it floats around and around until it suddenly clogs up ? Is there a reason it will never do this when running full speed or in neutral. This boat had wore me out

you may need to pump up the bulb before every start.

Thanks Don, I actually replaced the line last year with the hose your recommended. I'm wondering now if there is trash in the fuel pump and that is what causes problem.

I always pump the for the first start of course, but it always starts fine after that until it has a bog down. Then it will normally start up anyway so not sure about needing to pump every time.

I will take a picture of my primer bulb to make sure it is the right kind. I remember some kind of issue with the new hose I bought didn't clip onto my motor and I think I had to use old bulb for some reason. going home now to check it out
