    Fried Stator, opinions Don?

First, thanks for the fast service on parts Rhonda & Don. You're a pleasure to deal with. While going over things on this 2000 225 Pro Max I noticed the burnt leads coming off the regulators, Further checking revealed two of the yellow leads off the left regulator shorted to the head. I pulled the leads and ohmed the stator only to find all the yellow leads open. A good used stator should be here soon and the other one is off waiting. To test father I cut the bullet connectors off & still open. My question is on the regulators. They look to me like they may have lived. Testing the diodes all looks OK. No burned areas other than the two yellow leads that I can shorten & repair. What are the chances the regulators lived and once I have her fired again, how should I proceed testing other than voltage output at the battery? The starting battery is new. Thanks.

Based on your above descriptions and testing, I would STRONGLY urge you to replace the STATOR, and BOTH voltage regulators.

Also, after repair, confirm that ALL battery terminal connections are CLEAN. ENGINE cables should be installed FIRST, remaining lugs LARGEST TO SMALLEST.

Finish off the connections with STAINLESS LOCKNUTS (do NOT use wing-nuts).

Also, ensure that you've LOAD TESTED your battery to confirm it meets or exceeds the MINIMUM requirements for your engine, PLUS the requirements of your accessories (graphs, pumps, livewells, etc).
