    Pet Lovers

It's always great to see and read about all the member's pets. Loving and taking care of pets, say a lot about a person in my opinion. The Decatur and Macon County Animal shelter had a fund raiser last night that the wife and I went to and enjoyed. $15.00 a person, $5.00 to buy a mug and $1.00 refills on BudLite. They had dueling pianos and raffles and all was outside with great weather..If you get a chance to support this type of Org. that helps get strays and dumped pets adopted, please do.. We have 2 rescues and love them both dearly..

    Decatur is a good shelter!
Always support your local shelter and/or animal control...even before a rescue! These are the people on the front lines.
    to go a step further...
I know a lot of folks, my family included, who donate to places like the HSUS. If you really want your money and your efforts to go to help the animals, follow the example set here. GO LOCAL! Support the people who have their boots in the dirt.
    ESPECIALLY in rural locations!
We know so many rural shelter who struggle for every $1. The conditions are bad, the practices are outdated, many of them just NOT good all around....but they ( nearly without exception) do the best they can with what they have ( which is usually VERY little).
I get alot of emails from people in a month ranting about their terrible shelter and my answer is always the same...dont send me an email, do something about it! Donate, volunteer, pressure politicians...DO SOMETHING!
...even if it is just $21 dollars spent on a night in the park( assuming you only had one refill on the BudLite...LOL!), you will never spend $21 dollars in a better way than in support of a local organization like a Shelter ( or other).

(putting my soapbox back in the closet now)

Sadly, we live in the county, in a "dump" area. Dogs and cats. Seems around here. Pet control is like the police, fire and ambulance. Its only valuable when it benefits them. However, we have not gone to a shelter for a pet in a few years. Seems they like to adopt us!But a few more adoptions, and I'm not sure we can afford to feed them all! But I guess we'll try.

I am a fisherman for life! I will always be a fisherman! It's not something I do, it is who I am. Fishing is not an escape, it is where I belong, where I am supposed to be. It is not a place, but a life long journey. It is a passage my father showed me and that I will show others.
