    recirculating system

Can someone please explain how the priming/recirculating system works on a basic 2 cylinder two stroke outboard? Thanks!

    Re: recirculating system (slapshot5279)

Let's see if we can narrow your question down a bit.

Can we speak about a SPECIFIC engine (Year, HP, preferably Serial Number)?

Also... are you referring to the BLEED system, fuel SUPPLY system, Enrichment System, or all three?

    Re: recirculating system (EuropeanAM)

I have a 1999 Force 50 hp motor serial number oe367279. The schematic states it is a recirculating/priming system. Here is a link to the schematic. The numbers 1 through 6 show the system. Thanks!

    Re: recirculating system (slapshot5279)

Thanks for the serial number... really helps to know specifically which engine we're talking about.

The PRIMING system is actually quite simple. Once the primer bulb has been pumped firm, the fuel bowls (in carbs), lines, and fuel pump are primed with liquid fuel. Activating the "push to choke" feature turns on, or opens the priming solenoid valve. Fuel flows from one carb bowl, through the valve, and into a port on the carb AFTER the throttle plate, providing a rich mixture of fuel to assist in starting a cold engine.

The Recirculating System simply is a method of gathering, and redistributing excess/puddled fuel (normally from low RPM operation) from the intake system, and resdistributing it to other portions of the engine where it can be used for lubrication (bearings), or be burnt.

Hope that this helps to answer your question....
