    Battery ?

I have a 06 175 omax and am going to replace the battery. Is 1000 cranking amps what I should be using?

Have a good one and thank God for it!

    Re: Battery ? (EuropeanAM)

Not sure I can pay $250 for a battery.

If you had a choice between a Deep Cycle 900 mca 725 cca group 31 or a
1000 mca group 24, which is what I had for the last three years, but died, which one would be better?

    1. Deep cycle batteries are NOT recommended for use as a Cranking Battery with your engine.

    2. The 24 series you mentioned meets the requirements for the ENGINE ALONE (barely). It will not, however, meet the requirements after you run graphs, pumps, livewells, etc.

I don't know if you tournament fish.... but if you do, I'd recommend looking at it this way:

Your battery will let you know just how "capable" it is on the very day that you find that PERFECT fishing spot.... fish it for 4-6 hours with pumps and graphs running... and then turn the key to make it back in for weigh-in with what you "believe" to be the winning bag.

On that day... you'll WISH you had a battery with PLENTY of capacity.
