    Are merc & omc mount holes the same

    My boat is rigged for an OMC motor will a Merc use the same holes

    Depends on the year of the Merc....I believe all the manufacturers followed suit with the same bolt pattern around 1984. So as long as you're talking about a newer Merc...then yes.

    +1....

    Of course, also important is that the holes were originally LOCATED CORRECTLY... and straight.

    We often find when removing an OMC engine (to repower with a Merc) that the holes are off by about 1/8", for which there's really no excuse.

    Best means of checking is to utilize the transom DRILLING FIXTURE (any Mercury Dealer that installs engines should have one of these on hand).
