Very solid engines, built on the tried-and-true 2.5L platform.
Great performer, as well.
As with anything used, I'd strongly suggest (at least):
-Compression test (better yet, a leakdown test)
-Gearcase check (fluid check, propshaft runout, shifting quality)
-Computer Diagnostic (check for any active problems, verify TPS setting)
-Maintenance History (and current NEEDS) review
-Of course, a test run on the water to confirm proper operation.![]()
Do you happen to have the serial number?

dont have the serial number on the motor yet but what bothers me is that the owner says the engine only has 30 hrs on it. that old of a motor may have issues from not being used . how about gas and oil use? are they a gas guzzler
I'd be curious as to how he determined the hours of use. That particular engine isn't likely to be equipped with "engine hours" in the ECU.
Fuel/Oil consumption would be very similar to other 2.5L Carb or EFI engines (not bad for their day, but thirsty by "today's" standards).![]()
