I hear some guys say they take their torque tabs off, what are the pros and cons of this?

It would probably be a good idea to know what engine, boat, prop, and the type of steering you have (cable or hydraulic).![]()

cable steering until this summer, and the prop has no name, the prop just says 26p and H-9 etched in it.
Thanks for the info.
When possible, it's best to RETAIN the trim tab if you're utilizing CABLE steering (except for NFB- or No Feedback Systems).
If you go hydraulic... you can CERTAINLY remove the trim tab, and replace it with an Anodic Plate (Part# 76214Q5).
The trim tab is utilized to help decrease steering drag/pull, by counter-acting the torque via adjustment of the tab. With Hydraulic (and most NFB Cable-type) steering, this torque is not noted at the steering wheel, and the tab is hence not required.
