I bought a 99 Optimax 200 HP today and bought a repair manuel but the manuel is for 2000 and newer. I didn't know 99 Opti is diferent then 2000 or newer. Does anyone know where the 99 and 2000 difer? Mine is a 3.1 litre.

James:
It would be a 3 liter (not a 3.1).![]()
Best place for us to start with your question would be to obtain your engine's SERIAL NUMBER (the only appropriate identifier for Mercury Engines).![]()

Thanks~~before I went and paid for it I asked the guy to take it to a dealer and have it checked, he did and called me today and said most cylinders had 90psi while 1 had 75 psi, he said it runs great but he did everheat it for a few seconds last month running it in the drive on a water hose. I should back off buying it ? He wants 3000 with 300 hrs.

If indeed one cylinder's compression is at 75 psi... I'd steer clear of it.![]()
