I have a 200 optimax witha high five prop. Great hole shot
gets on plane fast but top end is apx 50.
Would changing to a 3 blade turbo prop be better at top end?
Any Thoughts??????

Prop is a mercury high five 25pitch running at 5200rpm
top speed 50-54mph.

Goodness, what kind of boat is in front of that Opti and what pitch is that Highfive? Something seriously wrong when a 200 hp Opti only pushes a boat to 50 mph. Unless you're pushing a 40' tug boat

I'd be looking at more than just the prop. Tuneup, engine height, etc. However, a nice prop for the 200 Opti is the 25" Tempest Plus. Worked for me when I swapped from a HighFive on my old Basscat Pantera II with Mercury 200hp EFI.

Sounds like your pitched to high. The high 5 is definetly not a prop for speed and does not provide any lift. Get a trophy or a tempest and hold on. Be prepared to be disapointed in the hole shot though cuz there is nothing like a high 5 in this category.

Have fun.

I agree by dropping the pitch on the high 5 you outta see some more speed, but if speed is what you are after then the High five is jus not a good choice. I will gladly sell you a 23p high 5 i've got laying around if you want to try it.

I would have both setup & motor checked. It should still run low 60's with that high 5. My high five 25" on a 200 mariner went 73 on a 20' vision, and currently runs 64 on a 2050 Astro with merc 200. Something is not right. Also, while not a high speed prop, the speed is very close on boats that run under 75. The Astro only ran the same 64 with the old style trophy, which is faster than the new style, with poorer holeshot, cornering, & handling. It sounds like your motor is too low or your engine isn't right.

If i"m not mistaken a 23 pitch means the boat will move 23 in.
per revolution. therefore a 25 would be 25inches per revolution.

I had a 20' Vision with dual console. Best fishing boat I ever had. It sat low and flat in the water like the old 370 series rangers but was much faster & had one of the best rides in rough water made, although somewhat wet. It also cornered harder than any bassboat I've been in in 20+years. I had it running 73mph with the high 5 turning 6400 rpm till I hit a large stump, 1" under water at WOT. Put me in the hospital, nose of motor embedded into stump, ramming boat pad down on top of stump damaging pad. I refused to let enyone fix it. But I wish they were still in business. I had it 10 years, fishes 200+ tournaments in all kinds of weather, & it nevere even had a stress crack. I now have a new Stroker with 250XS.
