    ECU flash & flywheel

I currentlly own an 04 250xs (5850) limiter with 250 hrs on it. I'm considering sending my ecu to flash and lighten wheel. this motor is on an 01 2100 Gambler, also running a Quad IV X OB in a 27 pitch . I can hit the limiter now but not all over it. My best speed has been 82 gps on a good condition day. But realisticly 80 is normal. have a crummy holeshot that seems to take to long to spool up. My question is what improvements should I gain by doing this ? More top end? more hp? better holeshot? Is it worth the money or should I be happy with what I got? also would I need to change props? I would like input from the experts before I commit. Thanks

I would think hole shot would improve because you could drop down pitch with the higher limiter.

The flywheel will help the engine to spool up to RPM faster (no top end gain should be expected just from the flywheel).

The reflash, however, will allow you to spin more RPM's (essentially like the 2005 model did)... allowing you a broader range of props to run. You WILL need to change props in order to take advantage of the reflash.

Eric Simon @ http://www.simonmotorsports.com would be the man to talk to about this.

Something else to think about is having your heads cut at the same time. That way you only need to flash it once.

To my knowledge NOBODY is cutting heads on a 250XS DFI optimax, that would seem to be a sure recipe for disaster especially on that hi test running year XS . Are you sure your not thinking of an EFI 250 of some type?

+1... I would NOT recommend cutting the heads on ANY of the 2003-2005 250XS models.
