Not getting to RPM range

Don,
Could there be any reason, other than the throttle not opening 100%, that would keep my motor from reaching its optimal RPM range?
Terry looked at the flapper while I pushed down on the foot throttle and it is opening all the way. We have tried 5 different props and still can not get the RPMs any higher than 5760. I keep raising the JP, and it is at 3 3/8" below the pad. The rooster tail is just barely above the top of the cowl. The H2O pressure is still over 25 at WOT. Here are the best results from the props I have tried:
25 Fury............. 5410 & 64.3 MPH
27 Trophy (Just for kicks, we new it wouldn't turn it) 5180 & 64.7
25 Tempest #1..........5530 & 63.4
25 Tempest #2..........5540 & 64.7
24 Trophy.................5760 & 68.7

Re: Not getting to RPM range (Ohirolina)

Ron:

Something's definitely amiss. You should EASILY be in the target RPM range with several of those props.

Let's get it in an see what's going on....

Don, I have the exact same issue with mine. If you could please post your findings it may help me. I know its unlikely we have the same problem but it may help me to know the cure for this one. Thanks.

Ron (or I) will be glad to update once the problem has been resolved.

In the meantime... go ahead and open a new thread with details on your engine, and specifically what IT is doing (or is not).

I'll be glad to offer pointers and suggestions.

Don,
Because of the time in between and my forgetfullness, I thought I should get this back to you. Here are the CORRECT numbers with each prop that we ran.

Re: Not getting to RPM range (Ohirolina)

Ron:

I'm going to assume that you updated the numbers in your first post after reinstalling the hotfoot?

If that's the case.... Give me a call today or tomorrow- I'd like to set up a time for Terry & I to get this boat on the water, and do some recording.

Re: Not getting to RPM range (Largemouthlou)

Lou,
I have something special being done to the hotfoot. It will probably add 2-3 mph and help with low end torque, kinda like a lightweight flywheel.

Don,
Those are the numbers that I posted on 11/27. IM sent

Re: Not getting to RPM range (Ohirolina)

Thanks, Ron!

Be sure to give me a holler after you and Terry run it, and we'll go from there (with CURRENT numbers).

Be sure and ck all hot foot adjustments and stopping bolts, I try to keep them the same as when shipped, but always best to recheck after hot foot reinstalled
