Storing Opti Oil Jug on board?

I'm just wondering if anyone sees a problem with storing an extra, sealed gallon jug of Optimax Oil in a storage compartment on my boat? I would have to lay the jug on it's side, but it is sealed and hasn't been open. Is there any chance that the oil will cause the jug to expand either by the motion of the boat, or by the changing air temperature? I know gasoline will expand in a can that isn't vented, but I don't know about the oil.

Does anyone else store an extra gallon on board?

It's a liquid... as long as the container remains sealed, it doesn't matter.

Spare gallon on board is a good idea, though.

Why risk it? It also takes up space and adds weight. With the way an Opti sips the oil, just fill it up once a week or even less and be done. May just have a small pint size as an extra?

I have an empty battery box in my rear storage. Always have a fresh jug of Premium plus and components for Don's cocktail in it.

I keep a couple of quarts but have no need for a gal. The motor tank would carry you a long time in the event the boat tank ran dry.

I would rotate them out, and not keep the same gallon as a spare for an extended period of time. I did this at one time, and my Opti oil was 'gelled' into clumps at the bottom of the jug when I poured it into the tank. I had to drain and clean the oil tank for fear of it clogging the oil pick up. I think I had it in the boat for about 4 years or so.

Not as long as you might think.... depending on the engine model, it may cover only 20-30 minutes of WOT runtime.
