    Fuel line

I have an 08 225 pro xs, I have a small leak at my fuel line. It the line that has the primer bulb which is gray and it connects to the line that goes into the motor which is blk. How hard is it to fix, it leaking right where the two lines connect and how do I keep from getting gas everywhere. Also does anyone have the part number for a replacement primer bulb or can I use any. Thanks

Me, I'd cut about an inch off both lines off and replace the plastic tie straps with radiator hose style metal screw down clamps.

For sure I'd fix it, not good to have fuel vapor hanging around.

I took the section off from the bulb to the motor and replaced it with one piece of ethanol resistant fuel line when I was replacing ALL of the fuel lines.

Deffinately make sure you have the upgraded fuel line from Mercury (Gray with blue writing ) this is supposed to be ethynol resistant. I just replace mine because it was totally ate up and coming apart in side my line. Just something to check.

The recommended method is to replace the line from the bulb to fuel pump inlet in one piece, thus eliminating the connection. Using regular hose clamps is also not recommended. They have cause problems too. The only place that I know of to get the proper clamps is at the dealer

While you are at it check this topic in the common asked questions. http://www.bbcboards.net/zerot...first

Check your existing line from the tank to the bulb. If it is the old style grey with red/orange lettering, it should be replaced before it creates a problem.

The CORRECT (current) Primer Bulb is Part# 8M0052973

See the post referenced above... it contains specific information that will help you to ensure a CORRECT installation.

3/8" line is utilized between tank and bulb.

5/16" line is utilized from the primer bulb TO THE ENGINE (do not attempt to use 3/8" line here... it will NOT seal properly as the diameter is incorrect).

Standard tie-wraps are NOT a suitable clamp. Utilize Mercury Part# 816311T (Radius-headed tie wrap for Fuel/Oil line installation).
