    Filter in Cowling

Had my 225 pro xs in service and to fix a cooling issue. The mechanic informed me that the last time i had it serviced the dealer did not put the filter back in the cowling. Now i have a possible subsequent problem. Showing some oilresidue under the belt pulley

Look inside your cowling shouldbe a metal plate that has twoscrews in it. There is an air filter in it.

The 225 ProXS DOES NOT HAVE AN AIR FILTER FOR THE COMPRESSOR.

If you remove the plastic cover from above the flywheel, there is what "appears" to be a plate that "might" have a filter under it. DO NOT REMOVE THE PLATE (there IS NO FILTER THERE, and removal of the plate will almost certainly destroy the cover).

There ARE two (2) return oil filters on the oil lines coming from the compressor, to the upper and lower crankshaft bearings. These filters should be replaced anytime compressor is replaced, or if oil leaks become apparent at the compressor (they MAY be restricted).

Where cani get those return filters? There is a very apparent oil leak around the top of compressor where the pully ismounted. I have almost 300 hours onthe motor. Is this normal?

Any Mercury Dealer should be able to get them for you.... or you can order them through Sherm @ Sherm's Marine (or us).

Email or Phone are the BEST means of contacting the Parts Department(s).
