    Thermostats and Poppet Valves?????

Is there a general rule of thumb on when these should be changed as a part of a PM schedule? Motor is a 2006 250XS #1E001666. I've had the boat for 3 years now and never replaced them. I do take the thermostats out and check for any blockages as part of my yearly PM's. All season I ran between 116 - 125 on temps. And no issues with water pressure.

There is no set schedule for "replacement". Essentially, thermostats should be inspected/tested annually, and replaced as needed.

Poppet valve is relatively inexpensive, and not overly difficult to replace. Personally, I'd replace it every 3 years, or 300 hours.... whichever occurs first- simply for the peace of mind.
