Found this piece of what looks to be the barbed part of the plastic piece of the tattle tale. I'm not sure how it would end up there but who knows
It was lodged where my finger is on #6. This is also the piston that burnt up

Amazing that such a small piece of plastic would blow the motor. Sorry to hear of your problem. Hopefully, damage is minimal since the "culprit" was plastic? Good luck with the rebuild. Question though? How does this happen in the first place? Thanks.
That's what I'm wondering. I can tell you that I drilled the tattle tale out bigger because our water will clog the stock hole before even idling out of the slip. I still am still not understanding how the piece off of the tattle tale made it there. If that's even where it came from
Also not 100% sure that's what caused it. Still some more stuff to check. Just foun it odd to
Find it there

Bayou bullet just made a good point on how the piece may have gotten there. I may have blown from the tattle tale back when I had a plugging issue. That is very possible

That would be my guess.... there's not really any other explanation for a backwards flow through the tattletale (with enough force to move the nipple back into the block coolant passages).
If this piece was moving around... it could have impeded water flow on that bank of cylinders, potentially causing your failure.![]()
