    02 225 efi rpm

Hey guys or Don, my 02 225 efi turns 5345 rpm (right off the smartcraft) at wot with 2 guys, full tourney load, full fuel, livewells half full, and runs 71 mph. I'm curious if I am hurtimg the motor because it is not turning enough rpm? I'm happy with the performance, just don't want to hurt anything. The boat is an 02 tr 21. I am running a b and b 27m (ya its alot of prop) on my rig. thanks.

I would try and get those rpm's up. I was about the same numbers as you 5300 at 71 and I was advised to get my rpm's up so it would not put a strain on the motor. You really want to hit 5800 if possible for the maximum output and power of your motor, I went to a 26 tempest plus and hit 5900 at wot and the motor seems a lot happier. Though this old guy doesn't like to go that fast to often LOL so I am happy with 60 mph

Same for me with a 23P 5400 rpm, same speed with 19p 5900.

You definitely need to drop the prop pitch....
