    merc motor

    I have a 18 foot cajun that needs a motor. found a 90hp merc. would that do the job?

    That is probably pushing it. You'll have to prop it with a low pitch (probably 15-17) to get the boat on plane reliably. Also, you won't go very fast with this motor, likely will top out below 40 mph. If you are OK with this then go for it. I have a 17.5" boat with 115 hp and often wish I had a 135 or 150 for better holeshot and top end.

    I'd hold off unless you just can't help yourself. A year from now you'll be saying"i coulda had a V-6" What is the Max. HP rating? That's what you should go with on that boat.
