Seriel #1B806797. About half the time when I'm in neutral the RPMs stay around 1200. At other time it idles fine at around 600 RPMs. I've pulled-up on the Hot Foot pedal to make sure it wasn't sticking with no effect. The only way to correct this is to turn the motor off and it drops to normal when turned back on.
Any ideas? And until I get this figured-out, how bad is it to shift into gear at this high of an idle?
Do not attempt to shift at this RPM!
It is IMPERITIVE that the throttle arm (left side of the engine) be returned FIRMLY against it's idle stop screw EVERY time the hotfoot is released.
More than likely, your problem is a throttle cable adjustment, or hotfoot adjustment problem.
