can't get the hang of it

I have had my 2008 Triton 20x2 /250proxs since new. This is not my first hp bass boat, so here's my concern....I have not been able to control the chime walk , I have a 26p trophy plus on the boat. The concern I have is I can only drive the boat to 5600rpm at 72mph before it gets too loose. Will this hurt the motor?, or can I get another prop to get the rpm up till I get the hang of driving the boat.? i'm sure i will get the hang of it, however I don't want hurt the motor.sorry if this is not the place for this post, but it is mercury related.

Will not hurt the motor. Try running a little less trim and adding it slowly as you get used to it, also some thing that worked well on my cat was running about 100 lbs heavier on the drivers side.

    Thank You Leon Pugh

Leon is spot on. Motor is in good shape. Use less trim and get more of the boat in the water. I'd be willing to bet if you tried to put it into a gentle left turn you can get it to level out. The torque from the engine is pulling it off the pad to the right. Trick is to get ahead of it...if you haven't given it any left turn you'll start chine walking. Once I get up on pad and start trimming out...I'll always keep the engine close to moving the boat left. Then let the wheel come out straight...then hold it to the left. Like I'm sure you've read many times, it takes seat time and practice. When I first got mine it walked badly until I had to come out of the throttle altogether. After getting the feel in the wheel of when the engine was about to roll the boat off the pad to the right, I was able to correct with some left steer to keep it balanced out. You may be able to help yourself by making sure your load is balanced...don't have all your stuff on one side of the boat...or all up front. I try and have my heavy stuff on the left to make up for my weight on the right.

    Good advice above.

Your engine is currently being run within the recommended RPM range... and you should be ok.

Take your time- and be SAFE. Better to run the engine at 5700 right-side-up, as apposed to 6000 RPM's and the flip-flop.
