    3.0L Port Side Trim Rod

    Are all 3.0L Port Trim Rods the same between EFI & Opti's ???????

    It's the little check valve inside the piston that usually gives the problem... just make sure the one you get/use came from a "not leaking down" system.

    Don,
    Thanks for the heads up on the valve. I actually reused the bent rod. I did clean out the little check valve to ensure there was nothing in there holding it open. I set the trim rod up on my lathe and checked the R/Outs, found the high/low spot, then with some aluminum blocks straightened the rod on my press, then back to the lathe for another R/Out check. After 3 attempts I've got it down to .0025 R/Out total. I got the hydraulic rebuild kit I ordered from you last night and went through the whole Tilt/Trim unit and resealed it. As of this morning, 10 hours after I completed the rebuild, the motor hasn't moved at all after being tilted up all night where as before it dropped within an hour. I think my problems are fixed.

    Must have been something real strange that resulted in that ram being bent....
