Should high hours be a huge concern on a 2010 250 Pro XS? Warranty questions.

Probably a stupid question, I know there are a lot of them regarding engine hours.
Considering buying a 2010 boat from a Pro, boat has 330 hours on it. Is there any type of warranty limit regarding hours? I mean, I can but a 2009 with a third of the hours, or I can buy this 2010 and get an additional year of warranty...
I have not checked out actual hours at certain RPMS, or anything else like that. I have to expect that being a pro and knowing you are only going to keep the boat a year, you run her hard and put her up wet. But is that a huge concern with 3-1/2 - 4 more years of warranty left?
Also, what type of things void the warranty? Is this something that could very well be the case, and how can I find out?
    Thanks!

Warranty is insurance. I'd rather have lower hours but your safe while under warranty. You can buy extended warranties off this site. Would the price of the older boat offset being able to buy extra warranty?

Those motors are designed to run thousands of hours. I would be more concerned with how the hours were put on it than the total. A computer printout will show this. You should have a the computer read on any motor your considering plus have a compression check done. Lots of hours may effect the value because people tends to perceive these motors as worn out. If it all checks out and you get a good deal ,go for it.

I would not be concerned with how many hours but how it was maintained during those hours and has all maintanance been completed. You could buy a low hour motor but if it has been abused I would think it would fail long before one that has more hours but maintained properly.

Actual engine hours are not NEARLY as important as is "How the engine was RUN and TREATED DURING THOSE HOURS".

Engine warranty has no hours limitation (factory or Platinum Product Protection extended warranty).

If the engine is within the FIRST THREE YEARS of it's original factory warranty, Mercury Platinum Product Protection may be available (we'll be glad to quote this for you at special BBC member pricing- serial number required).

One good thing about this engine to consider is that it obviously hasn't been SITTING. It's spent a good portion of it's life doing what it was intended for: Running.

Engine warranties CANNOT BE "VOIDED"- see the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act of 1976 (as ammended). However, under some circumstances, a manufacturer can DENY a warranty claim, such as in cases of abuse, neglect, improper use, physical damage from collision, improper maintenance, or in cases where the use of aftermarket/improper products with the engine "contributed to, or caused" a failure.

As with anything used, I would recommend AT LEAST a Compression test, gearcase check, maintnenace history review, and a PRINTOUT of the RUN HISTORY and FREEZE FRAME (FAULT) History.

great info and advice...thanks!I will have to look into the "Platinum" warranty upgrade, I don't really know anything about it. I am not sure if it came with a 3 or 5 year warranty. I do plan on doing the compression test, and fault check. The foot has a lot of paint rubbed off, but that doesn't really mean the boat was abused, but it did get into some good sand at least once. To me the water pump is a no brainer, I always change mine regularly anyhow. Boat I am looking at belongs to a pro, its been well used, but its still a 2010 model.

Drop me an email with the engine's serial number.... I'll be glad to check the history, AND what warranty it HAS, as well as what may be available.
