    Gloomis NRX Warranty Question

I have a NRX rod and the top of the reel seat broke away from the blank of the rod. Can i just fill out the warranty form and mail the blank in or should i call loomis and talk to someone first. Also does anyone know if they fix your rod or just sent you a new one.

The problem you've experienced is a known issue on some of the NRX rods - mostly the earlier models. You will NOT need to use your wildcard, nor will you need to pay any kind of replacement fees. They will replace the rod at no cost to you. In this case, they will even send you a shipping label to return the rod to them so you don't incur any costs at all. If you need any help with the process, let me know, I'll be glad to help out!

Call GLoomis to set up the above.

To further expand on the Wildcard. You should feel out the online form (GLoomis website) & send it in to get your Wildcard. Once you receive it, put it somewhere safe. You only get one per rod. If you have a problem or breakage that isn't a materials or workmanship issue, then you'll need to use the Wildcard. Only use the Wildcard when you know it isn't a warranty issue.

I own several NRX flyrods. They are all four piece. If something I did caused damage to one of the sections, I plan on findiing out the cost of replacing that section before using the Wildcard. It might be more advantageous to pay for the section rather than burn the Wildcard. As an example, the tip section is much cheaper to replace than a butt section.

Yes, this is one of the many very common issues with the NRX line. They will send you a whole new rod. But you won't be calling Loomis to arrange the exchange. Shimano support handles all of that these days.

I've got two of the "first generation" 854's and had the same identical failure to occur on one of them just last week. I'm expecting a return shipping label from Shimano/Loomis to arrive via the USPS later this week. As Bronzefly mentioned, there is no cost to you for this replacement.
