I just bought a brand new Nitro Z-9 with a Mercury Pro XS 250. I want to get a spare prop for my motor. Should I get the same prop as what came on the motor or do you have any suggestions?

I would run what you have until you are comfortable with it even @ WOT.
Then, you can start tweaking motor hieght and such for best performance. Then you will have the numbers (rpm, gps speed, amount of lift, etc) needed to determine is you need a bigger or smaller prop.
And this would probably be best posted in the props section. Nothing against Don, as he definitely knows his stuff, but you would likely get more hits/views over there and more people who have run the same thing

BTW.... "NO" prop comes on the motor. Propeller is selected by whomever rigged the engine (or sold the rig).![]()
I too would recommend that you wait until you're comfortable with your current setup. This way, you may be able to choose a "spare" prop that has some specific performance benefits (example: Fall/Winter prop, Spring/Summer prop).

How does cold or warm weather change prop performance?
Cooler/Denser air provides for better combustion and power output.
The short of it... there can be as much as 5-15% difference in power output at the propshaft, depending on atmospheric/climatic conditions.
In many cases, a slightly "taller" pitch for cooler weather, and a lower pitch for the Hot/Humid months.![]()

Don, I know this has absolutely nothing to do with props but, Ive been reading up on the fuel line problems. when i picked up the boat today I checked them and from the bulb to the engine it's gray hose with blue writing. from the tank to the bulb it has black hose. what do you recommend?
That's the new lne. You should be good to go.
YOu could replace the black line if you want, I did when I replaced mine, but it wasn't having issues like the line @ the engine was

Ill probably leave the black hose on for a little while and just watch it. I mean..I haven't even put the boat in the water yet. The 10 hours of misery will start soon. Haha

Jordan:
25P Fury is definitely a good prop.... just don't know if it's the best prop for your "unknown" rig.![]()
Fuel lines: You're good on the ENGINE side. On the tank side... you MAY be fine. However.... unless I have the opportunity to PERSONALLY inspect your lines, I will ALWAYS err on the side of caution and tell you to REPLACE.![]()

I will eventually replace the black hose. I'll keep a good eye on it. and Hopefully I'll get to put the boat in the water Sunday to start the engine break in
