    Prop to Pad

For those of us that have small boats with no jack plates, what would be the best distance from prop to pad. I was told 3 1/2 inches is a good starting point. My motor is sitting on the bottom hole, and right now I cannot lower the engine level without hitting the skeg. Thanks

I read that I had to level everything to measure prop to pad. The boat is level and the skeg hits the garage floor before the engine is level. It is a 2009 Triton 17 Explorer, with a 90 Merc.

Drive it out side and dig a hole for the skeg to go into to measure. not sure if thats the correct way but thats what I would do.

NO WAY POSSIBLE you can run that motor at 3 1/2" without a jack plate, very very bad information you were given. You might get by moving it one hole up, but no more than that.
